For several generations many of our elected officials have acted more like royalty within a parliament than the public servants of a democracy they are. As their political careers and egos have grown, so has their disconnect. This has created 2 realities, theirs and ours. Their reality is so far removed from the functioning reality (ours), we are now being told (by law) what light bulbs to buy, to use corn for fuel and what cars we must buy. The health care debacle itself would unnecessarily add another unfunded $2 trillion to our deficit.
As our next President, I will bring public service back to Washington and clean up many of the problems the career politicians have created. I will not sign any unread or unfunded legislation. I will remove most of the luxuries (paid for by us) they have surrounded themselves with. They may not change their mind set, but I will stop their reckless legislation from becoming law. My first act in this process was the successful registration as a Presidential candidate. Are there any politicians that have also done this solely by themselves?
I am running for President for one reason: I will not give our children an America that has this many problems and with so much unmanageable debt. If nothing is done, America will lose what has been the envy of the free world. Right now it will take at least 5-6 generations after us to pay for this selfishness. The American standard of living of the future will be dramatically lower than ours. Silence is consent. Each generation before us has made the contributions and sacrifices necessary to give a better America to the next generation. I am taking on this challenge while I still have the right under Article 2, Section 1 of our Constitution.
I am putting myself on the line because I don’t see anybody else willing to genuinely stand up to the establishment without personally trying to cash in along the way. If I am wrong, my candidacy will go nowhere. If I am right, give me the ball and get ready for the first blue collar President from the people in generations. I will make the tough and unpopular (but necessary) decisions in Washington, just like we have to in our own homes. Together, we the people will give our children a better America than what was given to us.
Thank you for listening to me,
Tom Miller
